The Chinese Football Association has reportedly approved a budget plan for 2017 which will see youth football training receive investment of US$12.5m.
A 200 percent increase from the 2016 budget, the CFA plan will cover the funding of new regional youth leagues which are scheduled to kick off in 2017 and are expected to cost close to $8.5m, Yutang Sports reports.
The budget, which is allocated separately from those of the country's men's and women's national teams, will also cover national championships at all age levels from under-12 to under-20, and training camps for all age groups.
China has taken major steps in improving its youth football system, as it seeks to become a global power in the game.
The last year alone has seen the CFA sign a development deal with its Belgian counterpart, the launch of the Real Madrid-affiliated Evergrande Football School youth training base and the recruitment of a trio of Dutch football legends to help coach some of the country's youngsters.
